Toastmasters is an internationally-reputed public speaking organization. Its mission is not just to promote better speaking, but also to enable its members to become superior leaders and coordinators with both confidence and initiative. I became the founding Secretary of our new Carnegie Mellon Toastmasters Symposium club, during the exciting early days of creating and publicizing an entirely new campus institution. In addition to keeping the first membership records, I dedicated substantial effort to promoting the merits of the club to the surrounding university community.		I also helped set up the Toastmasters Symposium website, and frequently evaluated the speeches of our members. The results of my efforts kept the club growing healthily at the most critical stage of its development, as many early members were starting to lose interest.
