| I come from a traveler's background. I hold dual citizenships in the United States and in Australia, and my undergraduate major is in Cultural Anthropology. During my junior year at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, I participated in an international exchange with the International Asian Studies Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, living and studying in Sha Tin, Hong Kong throughout the 2002-2003 academic year, until SARS canceled our final exams. My undergraduate university (UMBC) is notable in that it transferred my four-year full scholarship with me during my study. |
Afterwards, I funded myself on my meager savings while traveling in the Middle East for two months, the Netherlands and its surrounding countries for one month, and back to the People's Republic of China for five more months of exploration. My time abroad was an education in the modern, globalized world, and it left me with exposure to several languages and an eagerness to meet new friends.
